As I have gotten older and got into a more holistic and organic life style and continue to learn about different things as I go along on my journey because I to suffer with pain. I have fibromyalgia. It made me start to dig and learn more, so I decided to do some research for the both of us. Since I have had so much success treating my fibro and blood sugar problems with natural alternatives. I thought I would see what I could learn about essential oils and arthritis.

WHAT IS ARTHRITIS?

Arthritis is the painful swelling. inflammation and stiffness of the joints. There are different types of arthritis including:

Osteoarthritis: Which is degenerative arthritis where the cartilage that provides the lubrication between the bones in a joint starts to break down. It becomes rough and uneven causing the joints to wear and create rough painful deposits.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: Which is cased by inflammation in a joint that becomes painful and cause the joint to degenerate. This is an autoimmune disease and should be treated accordingly.


Symptoms of Arthritis:

* Pain
* Reduce range of motion
* Swelling
* Stiffness
* Redness

Here are some oils that help with arthritis, which include PanAway, Stress Away, Valor, Peace & Calming, Frankincense, Lemon grass, Rosemary, Black cumin, Marjoram, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Eucalyptus and Cypress.  To increase circulation add Oregano and Clove. These different oils can work together to provide relief from arthritis. It's good to know different recipes using the oils for arthritis pain relief, other oils can be beneficial. All the oils I mentioned you can obtain from Young Living, I suggest getting one there starter kits and then build your oils from there. You can also find some on Amazon.


RECIPE #1 ARTHRITIS BLEND:

TOPICAL APPLICATION BLEND:

Get some kind of jar or container with a lid. Put the following ingredients inside the jar/container

2 TBSP Coconut Oil     
3 drops PanAway
2 drops Stress away
1 drop Valor
1 drop Peace and Calming
Optional : Aroma Seiz

The Coconut oil acts as a carrier oil, stir all the oils around with the coconut oil and then apply to the area as needed.

RECIPE #2 ARTHRITIS PAIN:

TOPICAL APPLICATION:
2 TBSP Coconut Oil
2 drops Frankincense
1 drop of Wintergreen Oil per 4 drops of carrier oil
2 drops of Eucalyptus Globulus 

Frankincense reduces inflammation, Wintergreen relieves pain quickly. it is an anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, use diluted. Avoid if you have epilepsy - substitute with peppermint. Eucalyptus Globulus - For rheumatism and Arthritis, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic. Mix everything in together with the coconut oil and then apply to the area as needed.

Buy some empty capsules, you can get them on-line or at a health food store. In a capsule add 5 drops of each: I ONLY RECOMMEND INGESTING YOUNG LIVING OILS, NOTHING ELSE.

2 Drops Frankincense
2 Drops Cypress
2 Drops  Wintergreen (If you have epilepsy do not use Wintergreen, use Peppermint instead)
2 Drops Lemongrass2 Drops Geranium

Add all the ingredients to the coconut oil, stir, and then apply to the area as needed.   

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS:

Consider using the following supplements Curamin and Anti-Inflammatory Formula.  Curamin, which is the most active polyphenol in the spice turmeric. One study compared 2000 mg of curcumin with 800 mg ibuprofen in over 100 people with osteoarthritis. All of them saw a similar improvement in symptom relief leading to a conclusion the curamin was similarly effective and safe. Another study conducted at the University of Arizona found that not only did it reduce inflammation but it also decreased joint damage in arthritis sufferers.
